What has come to be called Calvary Church of the Valley was started in 1968 by a group of Spirit-Filled believers who came together during the charismatic movement in the valley. Led by Richard Zollner, a local Episcopal priest, believers who no longer felt welcome at their church began to meet in homes and then in a room at the Camelback Inn.
The Lord provided a miracle at 6107 North Invergordon Road. The old Desert Lodge, a winter resort was for sale. The price was $135,000 a small fortune at the time. An agreement was made with the owner of the lodge that if the loan was repaid within the period of one year, there would be no interest charged. When that day came not only had the Lord provided the entire amount but an additional $20,000 so that repairs could be made to the property. It was a time of great rejoicing. Through the years other surrounding property was made available which has become the grounds of the current Calvary Church of the Valley. The Lord has blessed us with a beautiful facility that we give Him the glory for.
Through the years countless ministers and ministries have been birthed and revived because of Calvary Church of the Valley. The 24/7 Prayer Chapel has been the heart of Calvary. The property and it's people and friends have been bathed in prayer through the years with answers too numerous to mention. The grounds have become a place of retreat to members and friends who have found a supernatural peace here.
"To know God and to make Him known" is our intent and purpose. Calvary Church of the Valley is a place of prayer, healing and reconciliation and will continue to be until the Lord calls us home.
