The Heavenly Man

By Brother Yun and Paul Hattaway

The dramatic autobiography of one of China's dedicated, courageous, and intensely persecuted house church leaders. This is the gripping story of how God took a young, half-starved boy from a poor village in Henan province and placed him on the front line for Jesus, in the face of impossible odds. Instead of focusing on the many miracles or experiences of suffering, however, Yun prefers to focus on the character and beauty of Jesus. Interspersed with his personal account are contributions from his wife, Deling, made mostly during her husband's frequent periods of imprisonment. You will remember where you were the first time you read this life story. It's a watershed book that will turn the reader to prayer and praise.

The Unseen World of Angels and Demons

By M. Basilea Schlink

As in the days of the Bible, God sends angels to guide His children in a world teeming with danger, both physical and spiritual. We are up against the powers and principalities of the unseen world. Yet for this battle in the heavenlies we are not alone. "Those who are with us are more than those who are with them" (2 Kings 6:16). May our eyes be opened to see.

Boundaries

By Dr. Henry Cloud & Dr. John Townsend

In order to call themselves good Christians, many people have drawn overly flexible boundaries (unwilling to say no, always accommodating others' needs) or overly rigid boundaries (to the point of being righteous and judgmental). Psychologists and inspirational speakers Cloud and Townsend show readers how to set reasonable boundaries in order to follow the true path of Christianity. This book has become immensely popular, most likely because it makes personal boundaries easier to define and is filled with spiritual purpose. Some cautions: the format can be overly self-helpish for such a complex discussion and the authors at one point imply that judicious spankings may be an acceptable form of setting boundaries with children. However, many Christians will probably find themselves grateful for this biblical context of boundaries. --Gail Hudson

God Guides

By Mary Geegh

Mary Geegh was a missionary in India for 38 years.  During her stay there, she quickly learned she could only change people directly through God's guidance.  When she retired, she wrote little stories about the different problems and the people involved, explaining the dramatic changes that took place through God's divine wisdom.  Her book, 'God Guides', describes what her goals were for herself and helps us to connect with God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.  This book is used as a teaching tool, as well as a quiet-time reading.  She has helped to start a "new" concept of listening  to the Lord's words rather than  talking to Him and then hoping He will change the circumstances.

Iran Desparate for God

By Todd Nettleton, Kay Rizzo

The gripping personal stories of faith in Christ recounted in this small book will remind you how desperate people are for faith and hope where oppression and tyranny rules. We take for granted in America our freedoms and the rights we have to openly profess our faith in Christ, to openly worship God in our churches and in our homes without fear of retribution.

In this little treasure book, you will learn some startling facts about Iran and how oppressed its people actually are. At the same time, you will find renewed hope in the Salvation message of Jesus Christ when you see the strength of character and dedication that believers have to share their faith, no matter the risk.
